Full Contest Details

Canadian National Mathematics League (CNML)

The CNML consists of 6 contests each year, each of which have 6 questions. Any calculator may be used. The contests are held Tuesdays at lunch from 12:00 – 12:30 in room 533. This year's contest dates are as follows:

  3. December 15, 2009
  4. January 12, 2010
  5. February 23, 2010
  6. March 23, 2010

Alberta High School Mathematics Competition

The AHSMC is written in two parts. The first part is multiple choice and is written on Tuesday, November 17, 2009 at 9:00 am. Students who perform well on the first part will advance on to the second round in February, where full solutions are required. For full details, see the AHSMC website.

Canadian Open Mathematics Challenge (COMC)

The COMC is a two-part paper written over 2.5 hours on Wednesday, November 25, 2009. Calculators are not allowed. For full details, see the CEMC website.

Cayley and Fermat Contests

The Cayley and Fermat contests will be written on Tuesday, March 2, 2009. (Moved from the official date of Wednesday, February 25, 2009 due to Teachers' Convention.) They are 60 minutes long and are made up of 25 curriculum-based multiple choice problems. Any calculator may be used. For full details, see the CEMC website.

The Cayley contest is aimed at students in Grade 10, and the Fermat is aimed at students in Grade 11. However, students in Grade 10 may choose to write the Fermat instead of the Cayley.

Euclid Contest

The Euclid contest will be written on Wednesday, April 7, 2010. It is 2.5 hours long and consists of 10 questions, each worth 10 points. The questions are either short-answer or full solutions; there are no multiple choice problems. Calculators are permitted, provided that they are non-programmable and without graphic displays. Grade 12 students are eligible to write the Euclid contest; grade 10 or 11 students may write by invitation. For full details, see the CEMC website.

Galois and Hypatia Contests

The Galois and Hypatia contests will be written on Friday, April 9, 2009. They are 75 minutes long and are made up of 4 full written solution problems. Any calculator may be used. For full details, see the CEMC website.

The Galois contest is aimed at students in Grade 10, and the Hypatia is aimed at students in Grade 11. However, students in Grade 10 may choose to write the Hypatia instead of the Galois.
